Overview
SimDate Dating (“SimDate,” “we,” “us”) is a dating practice simulator that uses AI to help you improve your dating communication skills. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.
What We Collect
Account Data
- Apple ID or Google account identifier (for authentication)
- Email address (if provided during sign-in)
- Account creation date
Profile Data You Submit
- Dating profile text that you paste or type into the app
- Photo descriptions (text extracted from profile screenshots via on-device OCR)
- Messages you compose for simulation testing
- Conversation messages during practice sessions
Data We Generate
- AI-generated behavioral analysis of dating profiles
- Simulation results (response predictions, scores, analysis)
- Mirror Moment evaluations (internal thoughts, skill scores)
- Overall impression summaries
- Practice conversation history with AI personas
Technical Data
- Anonymous usage analytics (via PostHog)
- Crash reports
- Device type and OS version
How We Use Your Data
AI Processing
- Profile text you submit is processed by Azure OpenAI (GPT-4o-mini) to generate behavioral analysis. This text may contain information from third-party dating profiles.
- Your messages are processed by Azure OpenAI to run simulations and generate practice conversations.
- Conversation history is stored in Azure Cosmos DB to maintain session continuity.
Important AI Disclosures
- All conversations in the Practice tab are with AI personas, not real people.
- Simulation results are AI predictions, not guarantees of real-world outcomes.
- We do not use your data to train AI models. Azure OpenAI’s data processing agreement prohibits using customer data for model training.
Third-Party Profile Data
When you paste someone else’s dating profile into SimDate:
- The text is processed solely to generate a behavioral analysis for your simulation.
- We do not store third-party profile data beyond your active session.
- We do not attempt to identify real people from profile text.
- We do not share third-party profile data with anyone.
Data Storage and Retention
- Account data: Retained until you delete your account.
- Session data (conversations, evaluations): Retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted.
- Simulation results: Retained for 90 days.
- Analytics data: Retained for 12 months in anonymized form.
All data is stored in Microsoft Azure (US regions) and encrypted at rest.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share data only with:
- Microsoft Azure — cloud infrastructure and AI processing (Azure OpenAI, Cosmos DB)
- RevenueCat — subscription management (purchase receipts only)
- PostHog — anonymous usage analytics
- Apple / Google — authentication tokens (during sign-in only)
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — request a copy of all data we hold about you
- Export your data — download your data as JSON via the app’s profile settings
- Delete your data — delete your account and all associated data via the app or by contacting us
- Opt out of analytics tracking via the App Tracking Transparency prompt

GDPR (EU/EEA Users)
We process your data based on:
- Consent — you choose to submit profile text and messages
- Legitimate interest — anonymous analytics to improve the product
- Contract — providing the service you signed up for
You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
CCPA (California Users)
We do not sell personal information. You have the right to know what data we collect, request deletion, and opt out of analytics.
Children
SimDate is not intended for users under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Security
We protect your data with:
- Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest (Azure managed keys)
- JWT-based authentication with signed tokens
- Input validation and sanitization on all API endpoints
- Prompt injection defense on all AI prompts
- Rate limiting per user
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
